As most clients come to coaching facing a challenge or seeking a transformation, an engagement of at least 12 hours is generally found to be necessary. For this reason, my general fee structure is $2,100 for 12 hours, which clients can use up at a pace of their choosing. Payment can be made in three instalments, consisting of a $1,100 payment at the start accompanied at the same time by two post-dated cheques for $500 each, so that payment is completed in three months. The basic contract can be extended in increments that suit the client. I also offer a six-hour coaching package on the same basis for $1,100.
For established clients I offer a “Baker’s Dozen” 13-hour package for $1,800 if paid in full at the start of the coaching relationship (i.e. there is no instalment option with this lower-priced package). The 13 hours can be used in whatever way is most useful for the client, both in terms of the length of sessions (clients have had sessions as short as 15 minutes and as long as seven hours), or which person uses the time (in one case, a mother and daughter shared the hours; in another two instances, spouses divided the time between them). Clients may also use whichever medium suits them best — e-mail, phone or face-to-face sessions — or may use their hours to have written material reviewed or to have material written for them.
I also offer a retainer option, which gives clients access to pre-paid coaching as challenges arise. This could involve a certain number of hours of coaching per month, or a certain level of service related to particular projects.
Issue coaching at $295 per hour is available, if less than three hours is required, or at $225 per hour for a minimum three hours, payable in full at the outset in both cases. For established clients, a mini-session of 15 minutes at $80 or half an hour at $150 is available.
Rates for group coaching, customized workshops, seminars and retreats, and corporate and institutional work, depending on the project, are in the range of $2,000 a day.
Rates for curriculum development also range with the project, but are in the range of $2,000 a day.
Payment of 50 per cent of the agreed fee is required upon contracting with Spa for the Mind Coaching & Communication Inc. or Unlimited Inç; the balance to be payable upon completion.
Rates vary according to the project, associated expenses and the length of time required for research and interviewing, but are generally in the range of $1 to $3 a word or $125 an hour.
